Master the Bestseller Marketing Mindset In 4 Steps

For the last few months, I’ve given you specific tips on how to write engaging marketing copy for your book. I’ve also given you insights into my top copy editing and polishing techniques.

However, to wind down the year, I’m going to go back to the basics and provide you with some fundamental building blocks for writing bestseller book marketing copy.

The first building block is mastering the bestseller mindset. To effectively promote you and your book, you’ve got to think big and put yourself in a frame of mind that exudes success, even before success happens.

This week I am going to show you four simple steps you can take to put yourself in a bestseller frame of mind.

Over the years I’ve written marketing copy for dozens of bestselling books. Although every bestselling author with whom I’ve worked is different, there are common character traits that bind them all together.

One of these traits is having a strong “bestseller” mindset.

Again, this week I’m giving you insights into four steps you can take to create your own bestseller mindset.

To find out how to master the bestseller mindset, watch this week’s Book Marketing Copy Quick Tip video.

The Bestseller Book Marketing Copy Mindset

Mindset means everything. You can say this about everything you want to achieve in life. This includes becoming a bestselling author.

In this week’s video, I share four steps you can take to create and embrace a mindset that empowers you to create strong book marketing copy and promote yourself with certainty and confidence.

Here is an overview of the main points you’ll hear me discuss in detail.

Think “Conversational” When Writing Your Book Marketing Copy

Before you write a word of book marketing copy, put yourself in a frame of mind in which you feel you’re about to start a simple conversation between you and a potential reader of your book.

During this conversation you’re going to convey the benefits and value of reading your book, just as you would if you were having an ordinary conversation with someone in a coffee shop.

Put yourself in this frame of mind, and you’ll feel much more relaxed about writing book marketing copy. That’s because you’ll realize writing effective book promotion materials has nothing to do with being slick, deceptive, or cheesy.

Assume Interest When Promoting Your Book

You put a ton of work into writing your book. The reason you did is because within you is a feeling that you have a message, mission, or story you need to share with the world.

If you have an entertaining story or a compelling message, you owe it to the world to share it. Assume there are thousands, if not millions, of people who will benefit from reading your book.

Bestselling authors have an inner KNOWING that readers are waiting to hear from them. This assumption on their part drives them to market their book.

Lean into this same feeling with 100% of your energy, and market your book with the assumption that people are waiting to hear from you.

Be Your Own Biggest Book Promoter

The bestselling authors with whom I’ve worked have all played a BIG role in marketing their books. It’s fine to have a team of people who help with your book promotion. But never step aside and leave this task entirely to others.

Remember, no one will ever care about the success of your book as much as you do. If someone else is marketing your book, it’s probably because you’re paying them. So you’ve got to ask yourself this: “If I wasn’t paying them, would they spend a minute of their time promoting my book?”

In most cases, the answer to this question will be “no.”

Your book is your baby. If you want it to become a bestseller and provide you with an ongoing income stream, you MUST become your book’s biggest promoter.

Think Big When Marketing Your Book

Remember, the first 100-story building wasn’t built by someone with a 50-story imagination. And nobody sold 10,000 books by dreaming about selling 100 books to friends and family.

So think big when it comes to marketing your book. Because what you focus on expands!

Think back to how you thought as a kid. You dreamed about being an Olympic athlete or an academy award-winning actor. All your dreams and fantasies were BIG. Tap back into this magical power and put this same vibration out to the world as you market your book.

One of my favorite sayings is that it doesn’t take any more energy to dream of a castle than it does a button. So when it comes to marketing your book, put yourself in a frame of mind in which you always have castle-size expectations.

This mindset will energize you and drive you to give max effort when marketing your book!

Again, I cover all of these points in greater detail in this week’s video, so I encourage you to click through and watch it.

Until next week, take action and make things happen!
