In my last two posts, I discussed what you can do as an author to make writing “sales copy” for your book feel less like a sales pitch and more like a chat between two good friends.
First, I covered how your marketing copy should feel like a conversation between you and potential book buyers; and then I discussed how the best way to grease this conversation is to build up the know-me-like-me-trust-me factor with your audience.
In this week’s video post, I provide detailed insights into the next step in your conversational marketing copy equation, which is establishing the perfect “voice” for your book promotion content.
To stand out in a crowded market, your book marketing copy needs to have a distinct and unique voice that differentiates it from other books.
I’ll show you how to find this voice and explain how to sustain it throughout all the marketing content you create for your book and online programs.
I think you’ll be surprised by how fun and easy it is to do this.

You Can’t Sustain Being Someone You’re Not
Before I started my video blog series about 18 months ago, I received a tip from a marketing consultant who told me that I should be highly animated and excited in each of my videos. Why? Because, according to him, that’s what people who watch videos want to see.
So I did a few test video blogs, and in the first one, I was highly animated and excited. However, by the third video, I wasn’t animated and excited, but I was down to earth, inspirational, and a little witty.
Why did I slowly make this transition over the course of my three test videos? Because I couldn’t sustain being someone I wasn’t. I couldn’t do my videos in a voice that was forced and contrived.
However, it was quite easy for me to be down to earth, inspirational, and witty because that’s the real me. Whether I’m talking to you, my friends, or my dog – that’s just me.
So that’s the voice and style I continue to use in my videos, marketing copy, and live presentations.
In this week’s video, I show you how to find the perfect authentic voice for your book marketing campaign by recognizing who you are, and who you are not.
The tips and insights I provide will help you nail down a distinct voice that will be easy for you to sustain throughout your book marketing campaign.
I urge you to watch it.
Until next week, take action and make things happen!
