On March 16, American Writers & Artists Inc. (AWAI) is scheduled to launch and promote my new eight-module online training course, Key Message Copy Platforms: A Unique High-Income Service That Can Skyrocket Your B2B Copywriting Success.
So I thought this would be a great time to begin my annual series on what a Key Message Copy Platform is, and why it’s so darn important you have one for your books, products and services.
So here we go. First, I’ll tell what a Key Message Copy Platform is and why you absolutely need one. Then in the coming weeks I’ll share a lot of persuasive writing tips that will help you create one. Heck, all the writing tips will come in handy even if you don’t write one.
What is a Key Message Copy Platform?
A Key Message Copy Platform is a comprehensive document (usually around eight to 10 pages) that contains all relevant marketing messages and statements about your book, product, or service. Its purpose is to serve as your “master messaging document.”
Once completed, a Key Message Copy Platform becomes the springboard from which you can write all of the marketing pieces related to your book or product. Stuff like sales letters, back cover book copy, video scripts, brochures, website pages, sales sheets, email campaigns and more!
It’s that simple. Picture a 10-page document loaded with well-written marketing messages for any product—and you have a good picture of what a completed Key Message Copy Platform looks like.
When you write your marketing materials based on the content in your Key Message Copy Platform, it assures that all of your promotional content will have a very consistent voice and message.
Repetition Builds Reputation
If you want your selling messages to be consistent and persistent across all of your marketing channels—always begin your promotional campaign by creating a Key Message Copy Platform for your book or product.
Trust me. This is a much more effective strategy than writing marketing materials one at a time on a “make-it-up-as-you-go” basis.
Making it up as you go always leads to murky and disjointed messaging, which is a death blow to any promotional campaign.
Remember, repetition builds reputation. This means your marketing messages have to be very persistent and consistent.
Creating a Key Message Copy Platform is what enables you to do this! Next week, I’ll be back with some seasoned insights on how to build one.
If you got a knowledge boost from this post I encourage you to share it with your crowd!
